OVERNIGHT CAMPS

Overnight Basketball CampIn 2010, we have overnight camps at Milton Academy, the Governor's Academy and Bridgewater State College.  Our overnight camps are designed to help players who love basketball and desire several hours of basketball per day. We tend to get campers who have participated in our day camps and are ready to try a camp with more hours to play and competition from towns all over New England. At our overnight camps, we are able to spend more hours per day teaching our campers fundamental skills and team concepts.

SAFETY
Health and safety are two of our top priorities. We have a full-time nurse on staff as well as a trainer.  We have each dorm well staffed with male adults in the male dorms and female adults in the female dorms. We do head counts throughout the day and we have a strict bed-check policy at night.  Dormitories are locked during the night and when the campers are at the courts playing basketball. In seventeen years of operation, we have NEVER had an incident of major concern. The health and safety or your child is our job.

BASKETBALL ACTIVITIES
Your son and daughter will participate in a number of basketball activities while at our overnight camp.  Some of the activities are geared at individual improvement and some are geared at improving team play. Campers will benefit from a changing variety of the following activities throughout the week:

  • Lecture from Sarah Behn
  • Lectures from Camp Director and Varsity Coach
  • Daily team practice
  • Agility stations
  • Fundamental skills stations
  • Positional drill stations
  • 4 on 4 full court games to encourage more touches of the ball on offense
  • 5 on 5 full court team games
  • 3 on 3-½ court tourney
  • 1 on 1 tourney
  • Hot shot tourney (following the Pepsi Hot Shot format that Sarah did as a player)
  • Full court team drills
  • Education on agility training
  • Education on individual skill improvement in the off-season
  • 15 minute individual evaluation with coach
  • Play-offs for team tournament
  • Awards Ceremony

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
In addition to the basketball activities, campers will be encouraged to participate in some terrific social events in the evenings while at camp. Here are some of the social activities that we will be hosting:

  • Team Unity Building and Team Pizza Party
  • Movie Night
  • Talent Show / Karaoke Night
  • Dance Party on Wednesday Night w/ professional DJ!

There will be a brief awards ceremony on Thursday afternoon to recognize the improvement of our campers. Some of the campers will win medals and all of the campers will receive a report card.  Many of the campers wear their camp tee-shirts on Thursday so they can get their coaches and new friends to sign the backs of their shirts.

Our overnight camp is the perfect place for your son and/or daughter to take their game to the next level. They will play a lot of basketball and have a lot of fun on and off the courts. They will enjoy the dorm life and making their own decisions in the dining hall. Campers will receive 3 great meals per day and pizza and drinks will be for sale later at night as well.  All of the campers get a taste of freedom with supervision at all times.

STAFF
Staff at the Sarah Behn Basketball Overnight Camp is comprised of male and female collegiate players, high school coaches, college coaches, and even professional athletes. Your child will learn the game from the best staff around in a healthy, safe, and fun campus environment. The campers will leave our overnight camp as a better player and they will have great social memories and friendships to remember for many years to come!
