Foxboro HS girls basketball team is off to a great start this season with an impressive 6-1 record. The girls just won the Milton HS Holiday tourney with convincing wins over Taunton (58-34) and Stoughton (50-31). Senior Captain Kristen Hoffman, who is off to play hoop at St. A's next year, led the way both nights with 20 points per game. Junior foward Kayleen Whall scored 19 points vs. Taunton and 8 vs. Stoughton. The Foxboro Warriors will host King Philip HS on January 8th. Junior center Leigha Tacey scored 11 points in the win over Stoughton and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Everywhere my staff and I go, we seem to field the same question from parents over and over again. They ask us, "Why don't you do your camps and clinics for boys?" For years, I would respond that we had a niche' with our "all female" camps and I didn't want to change that. I still don't.
However, now that I've been coaching my twins' sons in basketball and soccer for the last couple of years, it is becoming quite obvious to me that young boys need just as much fundamental work in basketball as the girls. The boys need our camp and to learn from our coaches also.
So, starting in 2010, many of our camp locations will be accepting male campers! THE BASKETBALL WILL REMAIN GENDER SEPARATE. We have a great staff of boys' varsity coaches, male collegiate players, and dynamic women to coach these boys the fundamentals of the game. It has dawned on me that the way I shoot the ball, the way I practiced as a kid, and the way I was able to score more than 5,000 points in high school and at Boston College can help these boys just as much as our girls. Jack, Joey, and Teddy (my sons) will be first in line...I hope your son is next!
